Is that easy to ride an electric bicycle?

Extremely simple. It is almost like riding a traditional bike, but with a motor. We offer a free complimentary training to get you on the road.

What conditions must I comply with to rent an electric bike?

Renting a Dyad e-bike is fast and easy, however you will need to comply with the conditions below:

Be over 18 years old and provide 2 valid pieces of ID. Riders age 18 or over do not require a driver’s licence to operate an electric bicycle but must show valid ID cards with pictures and proof of age (driver’s license, sunlife card, passport, etc.) at the departure point. In Quebec, Dyad electric bicycles or power-assisted bicycles are bound by the same laws that apply to traditional bikes, not motorbike or cars. Minors (individuals aged 17 and less) are welcome but as passengers only.

Provide a credit card for a temporary hold (a pre-authorization). The pre-authorization amount ranges from $250 per electric bicycle.

Read and sign all the rental documents, including Dyad waiver release.

Wear a helmet (it is required by law) and complete our free and easy training.

What documents do I need on the day of rental?

You must bring 2 valid pieces of ID with pictures and proof of age (i.e. driving license, sunlife card, passport, etc.) and a credit card for pre-authorization purpose.

Who can rent an electric bike?

All people who satisfy the age requirements (i.e. 18 and over).

Each rider must be a named rider on the rental contract. In case of damage only the person designated as the “main rider” will be responsible for any costs incurred.

If under age 18, riders are welcome as passengers only (i.e. child seat, trailers, etc.). They must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will sign a liability waiver.

What is included in the rentals?

The rental price includes helmet, lock, map and directions from our staff.

Optional accessories such as trailers or seats for children, baskets, and so on, are available at a small cost. You may reserve accessories in advance or ask for it directly in store. Unless you reserve in advance, accessories are subject to availabilities at the time of rental.

When is payment taken?

For reservations, a deposit is debited on your credit card when you confirm the booking either online or by phone. The remaining of actual rental charges will be billed in store once you return the rental electric bike.

Reservation, Modification, Cancellation and No Show

Reservation. Booking can be done online, by phone, or in person. To hold your reservation we require an advance deposit via credit card or debit card.

Modification. It’s fine if you want to change your rental to another date. All modification requests can be done online, by phone or in person by contacting directly the Dyad shop where you intend (or intended) to pick up the bike. You will find the contact details of all Dyad shops on our “Store Finder” page. Remember to provide our staff with your previous reservation details. A confirmation of modification or cancellation will be sent to you by email. This confirmation will state the amount of your reimbursement and the amounts charged to your credit/debit card, if any. Credits will be refunded within seven days back to the card used for prepayment.

Cancellation. If you cancel more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick-up time, we’ll refund the full prepaid amount. If you cancel less then 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick up time we will keep 100% of the prepaid amount.

No Show. If you don’t show up for your rental, we will keep the full prepaid amount.

You have up to 3 months after your pick-up date to request a refund.

Late or Early Return of the Electric Bicycle

You agree to return the bicycle on the date and at the time indicated in the rental agreement. The rental duration is calculated on the basis of indivisible periods of 24 hours, starting from the time the electric bicycle is made available.

We do not reimburse the difference for rentals terminated before the date indicated in the rental agreement.

May I return the electric bicycle outside of the store opening hours?

Yes, you can. But if you return the electric bicycle outside of the store opening hours, you remain fully responsible for it until a Dyad representative has inspected it. Even in the event you return the lock keys of the rented bicycle to the store key box, if available. Therefore, please contact your specific rental shop to check if out of hours service is available.

Do you offer roadside assistance service?

Yes. You can reach us by phone or online during opening hours.

What happens if my rental electric bike gets stolen, damaged or lost?

If your rental electric bike is stolen or damaged, you are fully responsible for the loss. If a rental electric bike gets stolen you have to inform Dyad as soon as possible and fill a police report at the local police station. The rental documents that you’ll sign before departure explain your responsibility in details.

Liability in Case of Accident

You should have coverage through your own accident and liability insurance. We are not responsible under any circumstances for accidents or damages caused to you or which you caused to any third party or cases of liability.
